Song for a Girl That’s an Island

Small glimpses of clarity are stalking me through DVDs, stacked from floor to ceiling until finally we’re leaving, crumbling up the receipt for some two hours we’ll ignore. And there are shores that yet still call me in my dreams with music falling underneath the white curl dropping smooth pristineness of a wave – when I’m awake, I take my time to get to you so I’ll be perfect when I do come – when I manage to punch through the sheer horizon and my island, all girl-shaped and beautiful, slides into view. I know that what I lose by staying, what I must exchange for laying on the blanket of your name with my face against your face is nothing small – but unimportant to me if it’s all I’m missing (island made for kissing, like a deep well made for wishing that the winter one day ends and we feel warm again).
